Scope of Work:

Assisted engineer of record with layout of fire alarm system for expansion and remodel of St. Vincent's hospital surgery. Building is a two-story structure with surgical areas and corresponding support areas. The following were major areas of coordination for this project:

  1. Interface to HVAC systems for proper shutdown of systems as required by applicable codes, and to provide smoke containment.
  2. Minimize code required duct smoke detectors for fire/smoke dampers and HVAC systems with proper application of area/space detection as allowed by code
  3. Provide ADA compliance for visual notification devices in “common” areas, yet minimizing negative impact of strobes in patient areas.
  4. Provide “private mode” audible notification in staff attended and monitored areas.
